Red Alert 2 is.... coming out!!!!!!! The sequel to the long-time favorite, Red Alert, is undergoing testing phases as we speak!!

The Release Date is set for Friday, November 3rd 2000. I am told that they are 95% sure this is going to be the street date.

-----First of all, none of this information about the game is set in stone, though it is all under consideration for the game, if not in the testing phases. All of it is subject to change. In Red Alert 2 there will be 9 different sides to choose from, the Koreans, Americans, Russians, French, Libyans, British, Iraqis, Germans, and Cubans. Each will have their own additional few structures and vehicles. Thus, Britain has a sniper, the French have a huge big defensive gun etcÖ. As of right now, there are four categories in the sidebar, normal structures, defensive structures, infantry and vehicles. One item from each category can be built at once, and there is unlimited build queuing. Next, when the mouse moves over a unit, it will automatically display the health of that unit. Also, RA2 will have 3d terrain. It just won't be formable. So, when you Ion Cannon someone it won't leave a dent in the ground like in Tiberian Sun. That option has been removed. An option that is still under debate is that veterans might have different artwork than non-veteran units. This is so you can instantly see which units are veterans and which are not. You may also be able to purchase units in veteran status. Both of these items are still under debate and aren't in the game. There are also a lot of new units in the game that are noticeable in my screenshots. First off, the mirage tank is a tank, which can be disguised as anything. (I.e. A tree) This tank is on the allied side, who also has a prism tank. But, the most powerful tank is the Apocalypse Atomic Tank on the Soviet side, which is pretty much a mammoth tank. Also, terror drones are new in RA2 and are a unit that can destroy tanks within 10 seconds, and you still have the drone when it's finished. However, these drones fall to pieces when it comes to infantry. The guard dog is back in RA2 and is available for the Soviets and the Allies. They are now built out of barracks' instead of kennels in RA. The other infantry additions in RA2 are a sniper for Britain and Allied Rocketeers. These units are like the jump jet infantry in TS, only a lot more useful. There are a great deal of super weapons in RA2 which are interesting, and very damaging to your opponent. But, these are very costly, like $10,000. First of all, there is a weather controller device that once built, starts a 12 minute count down. Also in RA2, when a super weapon is constructed, the map around it is cleared and all players in the game are notified of the construction. The countdown for the weapon is shown on everybody's screen. Another nifty gadget is the soviet psychic sensor, which is a structure that warns you when a player is going to attack your base. If an opponent clicks on a soviet unit within a certain radius of their base, you are warned. The other super weapons known to date are the Iron Curtain and the Chronosphere. The Iron Curtain is the same as it was in RA, and so is the Chronosphere except for the fact that it can now send chrono enemy units. And, lastly the Chrono infantry can teleport across the map and their weapon is a chrono shooter of some kind that materializes structures out of existence, pretty cool huh? I thought so.
